New speaker announced from Lundin

SPE Northern Norway Section are delighted to announce Dag Sigbjørn Mustad as a speaker for the SPE Workshop 2017. He will present interesting news of the Alta-Gotha development.

The program commitee is working hard these days to book the speakers. Statoil will present latest new from Johan Castberg and Aasta Hansteen. You will also get news about the new CO2-injector at Snøhvit. In addition to Statoil; AkerBP, OMV, NOV, Arcex, Eni and DNV GL will hold interesting presentations!

Registration for 2017 SPE Workshop is now open

Click on the buttom above and register your attendence now. This year workshop is handle by the SPE Northern Norway section only, and one of the focuses is a LEAN workshop. In cooperation with the UiT – The Arctic University of Norway we use their facilities, and as a pay-back we invite the students for a very nice price.

Call for Presentations: SPE Norwegian Arctic Subsurface and Drilling Challenges Workshop

SPE Northern Norway Section together with SPE International, would like to invite you to submit your presentation proposal for the SPE Norwegian Arctic Subsurface and Drilling Challenges Workshop. The event previously known as the SPE Workshop in Arctic Norway, presented by the SPE Northern Norway Section, will now be organized by the section and SPE International. Our section’s goal to make this annual event into an SPE Global Event has been reached after only 3 years!

Dates Ready for the 2016 Edition

The SPE Workshop in Arctic Norway has now been granted status as an official SPE event and will change its name to SPE Northern Norway Workshop. The event will be held 9-10 March 2016. More information will be published shortly.

Award Winning Photographer at the Aurora Borealis Lounge


Between the Workshop sessions and the “Hunting for Aurora Borealis” evening event on 11 March, the Aurora Borealis Lounge will be open at Ludo Bar & Scene next to the Workshop venue. At the Aurora Borealis Lounge, Stian Klo will present some of his pictures of the aurora borealis/northern lights.

Stian Klo is a professional and award winning fine art nature and landscape photographer from Harstad, where he was born in 1980. His work has been published in highly esteemed magazines such as National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer Magazine, Landscape Photography Magazine, N-Photo and more. He has also licensed images to international ad and marketing campaigns for companies such as Apple, Nike, Fjällräven and Iceland Air.

Together with Arild Heitmann, Senja-nordlys-7he co-founded and runs Lofoten Tours, a modern tour company focusing on high end and unique photography tours in the Arctic regions, mainly Lofoten Islands, Senja, Svalbard (Spitsbergen) and Iceland. If you are interested in exploring the Arctic, or if you’ve always dreamt of witnessing the elusive and immensely beautiful Aurora Borealis (Northern lights), Stian and Arild are definitely the guys for the job. SPE Young Talent

The SPE Student Chapter at Harstad & Narvik University Colleges will host a parallell student session at Harstad University College 11 March.

The aim for the parallel student session is both to inspire high school students to seek opportunities within the petroleum industry as well as inspire current engineering students to continue their education during these challenging times.
